IT’S AUGUST AND THERE IS NO TRAFFIC AND THERE ARE NO LINES…….

We’re talking about MAIN BEACH at 6am of course. But herein lies our neighborly advice to everyone in our world. Learn to make The Hamptons work for you. The beaches are beckoning in the early morning hours, and promise solitude for your walks at sunset. The parks in every village breathe a little easier early in the day. Even our three Citarellas are comfortable to shop on a weekend morning when you simply learn to plan around the chaos. (Have you ever been to your favorite farmstand as they’re setting up in the morning? You get to pick the best of the best!) There’s no denying that there will simply be more people, more cars, and more attitude out here from now til Labor Day. But since we’re lucky enough to be in The Hamptons, let’s be smart enough to plan our days around the mess. If we do, August will unfold for you with unbridled glory. Sure beats whining about the traffic!

AN EXCITING NEW THEATER BRINGS IN THE CROWDS.

We had the pleasure the other night of seeing firsthand the glorious renovations at GUILD HALL. It was bursting at the seams for local actor/director Bob Balaban’s Evening of Short Plays. The theater has been completely rebuilt from the ground up but wisely kept its charming “circus tent” ceiling. The MORGAN THEATER, as it will now be known, is living proof that an exciting new theater will attract ever-larger exciting new crowds. There are those among us that mourn the loss of the decades-old name “THE JOHN DREW THEATER” celebrating one of The Hamptons' most colorful characters, but none of us can deny the thrill of having a new theater in our midst! Here’s to another century of GUILD HALL theater productions.

Our first visit to the all new, but somehow familiar theater.

WE WERE WRONG....PLEASE FORGIVE US....and GO!!!

After theater the other night we, almost begrudgingly, went to ARTHUR AND SONS in Bridgehampton. We put off going because in all our years following the restaurant scene out here we’d simply never seen more hype. (If your business needs help…perhaps you should find out who does their PR!) Anyhow, shame on us! Arthur and Sons is the real deal. Their quintessentially American twist on Italian Favorites has created a menu that will please your whole family. If the Spicy Rigatoni or Chicken Parm don’t thrill….then you simply can’t be thrilled. The Fried Mozzarella reminds you from the start that this wonderful new addition to our community simply doesn’t take itself too seriously. How lucky are we to have Manhattan’s Arthur and Sons right here in The Hamptons year round! (Click here to see the menu.)

We Try Not To Brag…….BUT WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!!

If you haven’t found your way to THE BEAR on HULU, then you’ve denied yourself TV at its absolute best. (And you’ve also blatantly ignored our regular exhortations!) Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edeberi, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and an ever expanding list of guest stars have taken our favorite show to new heights this summer. As we predicted, it’s been nominated for a million and one Emmy’s, which still doesn’t do credit to its genius. All of you New Yorkers will recognize our play on Bloomingdale’s theme when we promise you the “THE BEAR is like no other show in the world.” (click here for a trailer.)

AND IF THAT ISN’T ENOUGH TV-RECRIMINATION, THEN BUCKLE UP……CAUSE THIS NEXT SHOW IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND.

You’ll have to download the MHz app to your TV to see all four seasons of what The New York Times recently called “the world’s best television show.” We’ve followed it for years and begged you all to join us for……BABYLON BERLIN, a period drama that takes you away to Germany in the ’20’s and ’30’s as the Weimar Republic is collapsing and Hitler is rising. The Times describes it as a “sleek, slouchily sexy blend of police procedural, love story, Freudian melodrama and expensively rendered costume epic.” We are simply calling it “Enthralling!” (Click here to see a trailer)

AND SPEAKING OF THEATER……

If you haven’t been to Bay Street Theater this summer then shame on you! But there’s still a chance to redeem your soul as there are still ticket’s available to the all-of-August production of Mel Brooks’ YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN The Musical.  The team has worked their Bay Street magic, and figured out a way to bring this beloved show to life perfectly scaled for our wonderful and intimate theater. It’s hard to imagine the New Yorker that won’t find themselves splitting at the seams from Brooks’ unique and timeless take on this tale of experimentation and redemption. (Click here to order tickets while they last.)

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
